Chivas, with a record of 11-9-5, was given the penalty kick because Andrew Boyens, Red Bulls persistent defender has made a handball violation in the box and was warned by referee Alex Prus. Klejestan was given the opportunity to do the penalty kick but even though goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul has dived the wrong way, Klejstan only managed a low shot from the 12-yard spot missing a spot on the left post.

Because of the draw, Chivas and Seattle are now tied for fourth place in the Western Conference and have a standing of sixth overall place with 38 points.
