Chivas is OK With 1-all draw Against the Red Bulls

Posted by Corey

CARSON, Calif. – On Saturday night, Chivas USA had gathered a 1-all draw against the New York Red Bulls and one of the highlights of the game was when Sacha Kljestan was not successful with his penalty kick during the second-half injury time.

Chivas, with a record of 11-9-5, was given the penalty kick because Andrew Boyens, Red Bulls persistent defender has made a handball violation in the box and was warned by referee Alex Prus. Klejestan was given the opportunity to do the penalty kick but even though goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul has dived the wrong way, Klejstan only managed a low shot from the 12-yard spot missing a spot on the left post.

Because of the draw, Chivas and Seattle are now tied for fourth place in the Western Conference and have a standing of sixth overall place with 38 points. For each conference, the two top teams will qualify for the playoffs while the teams that will gather the four total highest points will be awarded the wild-card advantage.
New York with a record of 4-17-6, however, has not made any win yet with its 25 matches that left them 0-18-7 record ever since they won a 2-1 win against Los Angeles at the Home Depot Center last May 10, 2008.

Even at the onset of the game, Chivas has played in their excellent form and did not give any offensive chances to New York. However, the Red Bulls were formidable opponents and Chivas has not been able to break them down only until the 64th minute when Coundoul was beaten by Kljestan by a 25 yard shot. After nine minutes, Maicon Santos of Chivas suddenly hit the crossbar as his team put more force to the goal of the New York’s team.

On the 84th minute, both teams are now tied in the match when Red Bull’s Sinisa Ubiparipovic unexpectedly delivered a cross into the penalty area to Angel and Angel neatly put a header into the net’s back beating Zach Thornton, Chivas goalkeeper. This is Angel’s 10th goal for this season and now garnered a franchise record of 46th in all their competitions.

Panthers end preseason with a win over the Finnish team

Posted by Corey

Florida Panthers overcame the Finnish team Jokerit with a score of 4-2 last Wednesday which marked the end of the preseason. They will be facing the Chicago Blackhawks first in the early part of the season.
The Panthers won over their opponent with Dennis Seidenberg and Cory Stillman on the lead. This victory also brought the team to the regular season of the NHL. Seidenberg and Stillman scored during the first period of the game with just 29-second interval.
Stillman scored another two points during the second period of the game with Michael Frolik even adding to the Shark’s lead with a score of 4-1.
Steve Reinprecht helped in the productive offense of Stillman and Frolik with two assists. Tomas Vokoun also help in the victory of the team with 19 saves.
The Finnish team scored another point in the second period with Kari Shilvonen closing the lead to 4-2 before the game ended.
Peter DeBoer, Panthers coach, was amazed that the trio of the team finally clicked during the end of the preseason. The coach mentioned that the threesome coordination of their team was not evident in the earlier part of the preseason.
The Panthers also found a new leader in the presence of Stillman after their defenseman Jay Bouwmeester transferred to Calgary Flames. DeBoer mentioned the role thay Stillman has been filling for the team this time around. He added that the player came back with a new sense of responsibility.  Stillman already won two Stanley Cups and with the award that he has, there are no other players that can take the role like he can.
Florida played the game without their top center Stephen Weiss because of the groin injury that the player is still suffering. He was replaced by the younger folk Shawn Mathias side by side Nathan Horton and David Booth.
DeBoer also added that their fans can expect a better play from them when Weiss gets back to the team. Together with luck and a full-swing member, Panthers will be as healthy as they have always been, he mentioned.
The NHL regular season will start for the Panthers as they will face the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday and Saturday in Helsinki.

Home Gym Equipment and Elliptical Machines – Because Health Is Wealth

Posted by Corey

Men and women are giving particular attention to their weight and figure, and it’s not all because they want to look good, but because the need to be healthy is greater now than ever before. Obesity leads to a host of diseases, many of them serious and debilitating.

To be in the peak of health often requires one to embark on a healthy diet and to exercise regularly. It is usually recommended to enroll in gym classes, but if you’d rather do the exercises in the comfort of your own home, it only makes sense to invest in some home gym equipment.

Home gym equipment are of different kinds, and they are often classified according to cardio, strength, weights and dumbbells, and yoga and pilates equipment. Cardio equipment are those designed to increase the heart rate, such as rowing machines and elliptical machines.

Rowing machines are great for losing weight, as they target the large muscles of the body, both upper and lower. They let you burn more calories while toning the legs and thighs and firming the muscles of the arms and backs. Elliptical trainers or machines, on the other hand are fairly new, unlike treadmills that have been around for quite some time already. They allow you to burn calories without the risk of injuries to your back, knees, hips, and ankles. These sets of machines are low-impact, meaning they are easy on the joints, but they also work out the upper body, allowing you to shed more calories and more fat than other cardio equipment. This means that you don’t have to spend as much time exercising as you would with a treadmill or a stationary bike.

Rowing and elliptical machines in particular come in all budget sizes. Rowing machines can be anywhere between $150 and $2,500, while the cost of elliptical machines ranges between $180 and $4,500.00.

The essentiality of these machines cannot be taken for granted, especially now when the fast-paced life pushes one to resort to eating at fast food restaurants and, ironically, adopt a no-exercise routine, day in and day out. There’s no more time to take leisure walks in the park or even just around the neighborhood. These exercise machines are offering you the chance to be fit and healthy right in your own home. So even if these require an investment, you’ll still get your money’s worth, more so when you consider that health is wealth.
